Iron Men Conference Recap
"Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." Proverbs 27:17
"Be on your guard!" With that challenge, Pastor Brent kicked off a powerful day of equipping and encouragement at our FMO Ironmen conference. Those who attended experienced firsthand the reality expressed in Proverbs 27:17: "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." Something happens when men gather to seek God together, sit under His Word and allow His Spirit to minister to our hearts. You could feel backs straightening as Pastor Brent opened the Scriptures and reminded us of all we're called to guard - our families, our faith, and above all, our own hearts. "There's nothing worse than a guard caught sleeping at his post," he said, driving the point home. Will we be found alert, boldly facing the enemy as real men? Let's be the Joshuas and Calebs of our generation! From there, Greg Ramage laid bare the ugly reality of temptation, which comes "crouching at the door" (Genesis 4:7) like a predator. Many are caught unawares, but we must "rule over it," following Jesus' example. He walked away from every temptation victoriously, as we can if we walk with Him! One of the biggest takeaways woven through each message and driven home by Dr. Adam as we wrapped up the afternoon was never to forget that our battles aren't just about us. Every time we stand our ground, we do more than endure another fight. We're protecting those we love. We're covering our brothers' backs. We're modelling to all watching eyes what it means to be a Christian man! Looking around the room and knowing there is a group of men hungry to hear the Word and willing to be challenged in their walk with God tells us one thing: our future in God is bright! Onward and upward men.
